About the Artist

 
 

david n wilson

is a transdisciplinary designer, educator, and researcher. His practice focuses on emergent digital technologies that create, maintain, and change culture in public, virtual, and hybrid spaces. He is concerned about artificial intelligence and its impacts on human creative processes.
 
David currently serves as a tenure track Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at Purchase College, State University of New York. He has helped to establish design research labs at Purchase College, The University of Texas at Dallas, and The New School that investigate an emergent digital communications form called Public Interactives. In his teaching, David has designed and delivered courses in Visual Communication Design, Graphic Design, Speculative Design, Media Design, Media Production, TechnoCulture, and Public Interactives.
 
Prior to his current academic appointment, David served as a research fellow at UT Dallas and The New School. While at The New School he also served in the University TransDisciplinary Laboratory hosted by Parsons School of Design, conducting technocultural research in collaboration with Microsoft New York.
 
As an author, David has presented research at SIGGRAPH, Ideas City @New Museum, and through publications by the Association for Computing Machinery and xCoAx. As an artist he has exhibited and performed internationally, nationally, locally, and virtually.
 
Prior to higher education, David worked in the Television, Music, and Video Game industries.
